Safety, Ethics & Seva Discipline

Professional Standards

Professionalism Deserves Seva

Even though coaching is offered as seva (service) through Yogajyoti under voluntary Guru Dakshina, it is not casual or informal. Time, attention, knowledge, and skill deserve a clear structure, ethical standards, and professional boundaries.

1. Coaching Agreement & Scope

All participants enter into an explicit coaching agreement before work begins:

  • Mutual commitments, session expectations, and attendance discipline.
  • Introductory conversation to determine fit and coaching eligibility.
  • Respect for participant autonomy and personal life choices.

2. Strict Confidentiality

Everything shared during coaching remains strictly private. Ethical limits include:

  • Imminent danger of harm to self or others.
  • Legal requirements under applicable statutory law.
  • Confidential peer supervision for professional standards.

Role Boundaries & Responsibility

Role Boundaries

Coach ≠ Psychotherapist ≠ Medical Doctor ≠ Guru ≠ Financial Advisor.

Coaching is a developmental relationship. It is not psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, medical care, legal counsel, or financial advice. We do not attempt to diagnose or treat conditions outside the scope of coaching.

"Coaching is about increasing self-awareness, personal autonomy, and purposeful direction—not creating a guru-disciple relationship."

Autonomy & Responsible Referrals

A coach does not become the decision-maker for your life. Participants remain full owners of their choices and actions.

Responsible Referrals: If something arises that is better addressed by mental health professionals, medical doctors, or legal advisors, we gently highlight this and recommend appropriate support.

The objective is increasing inner capability, self-understanding, and autonomy.
